1) To help promote the IWRM planning process at national and regional level.

- follow up letter to that sent by Mr. Ocampo from UNSGAB Chair stressing importance of long term IWRM planning process and encouraging reporting of progress.
- utilize regional dialogues and other appropriate meetings to encourage IWRM reporting. (Dr. Abu Zeid will take responsibility for facilitating national plan reports from Arab and African National Government.)

2) To help ensure that water resources management is reflected in poverty reduction strategies and in national development instruments and budgets and in sectoral planning.

- Request session at CSD 2008 (possibly via a World Bank facilitated panel discussion showing importance of embedding wrm in development planning under conditions of increasing risk and uncertainly).
- Follow up letter to that sent by Mr. Ocampo (as above).
- Engage with UNDP, WSP and other agencies to promote incorporation of wrm in broader national and sectoral planning and budget allocations.

3) Advocate for the sustainable financing of water resources development and IWRM plan implementation and a long term commitment to capacity and institution building for improved water resources management under diverse physical and socio-economic conditions.

- Raise financing issue with World Bank.
- Address future donor's meeting on need for long term financing and the coordination of their country level activities in the sector.
- Request UN Water Task Force on IWRM and its partner organizations, such as GWP, to lead efforts to enhance long term capacity in IWRM plan implementation and institution building.

4) To advance transboundary water governance.
|
- Send letters to Mr. Konukiewitz requesting information on the Petersburg process and plans for the next round table in September.
- Chair to write to German Government requesting them to have lead in transboundary issues.
- UNSGAB to support strengthening of transboundary river basin management in dialogues with regional banks and other organizations.
