1) Clarifying the situation
|
- UNSGAB to request the JMP team (WHO-UNICEF) to provide a report on:
- the reliability of their data and the methodological differences with the other data sets
- the various methodological improvements and refinements that are under implementation.
- the actions that have been jointly decided by the international organisations
- UNSGAB to request a report from the donor community about their findings and intentions about "monitoring"
- UNSGAB to request UN-Water
- to give the Board information about their surveys of existing monitoring tools for drinking water and sanitation at the global / regional levels;
- to clarify if their IWRM database will include indicators on drinking water and sanitation services.
- to identify the countries that are not measuring their progress in providing access to water or sanitation
- UNSGAB to request the Water Monitoring Alliance to give the Board information about their surveys of existing monitoring tools about drinking water and sanitation at the global / regional levels and their assessment of potential discrepancies and complementarities.
- UNSGAB to make an assessment of the worst-performing countries

2) Increasing effectiveness of global tools
|
- Further to actions 1 and if necessary, UNSGAB will be able to suggest improvements in co-ordination or in methodology.
- UNSGAB to remind OECD about its request that they "develop better knowledge of all water expenditures including public and private infrastructure investment, operation and maintenance, and household expenditures".

3) Dialogue with donors
|
- UNSGAB to write supporting letters to all donors that are already publicly reporting the outputs of their programs.
- Following AfDB in the Tunis meeting, UNSGAB to request ADB in the Shanghai meeting and IDB in the Bogota meeting that they measure and report the number of people obtaining access to water or sanitation through capital projects sponsored by them.
- UNSGAB to write a request to the World Bank (as the reference donor) to report annually on the results of its water programs;
- to organise a dialogue with the EU about their donor activities.

4) Dialogue with countries
|
- UNSGAB's Chair to write to the worst performing countries indicating the following points:
- raising awareness, commitment and achievements in drinking water and sanitation will help solving their major problems such as poverty, education, health, economic development, etc
- asking their views about the constraints on their performance and any potential joint actions based on the HAP which would alleviate them.
- UNSGAB to take advantage of all meetings with governments to ask them their results and targets.
- for those countries where it will be felt necessary, UNSGAB to organise meetings with ministers in charge to discuss their constraints and potential action.
