A meeting between the WB president R. Zoellick and UNSGAB Chair took place at the World Bank office in Washington on May 13th 2008. The Chair of UNSGAB was accompanied by four board members Margaret Catley-Carlson, David Boys, Gerard Payen and Roy Torkelson. It was agreed that UNSGAB and the World Bank would combine forces to bring water and sanitation higher on the agenda. The World Bank is also interested to work with UNSGAB on schemes that allow development of local financial markets to finance local water utilities that are not yet completely creditworthy. It has been agreed to jointly work in 5 to 6 countries.
